The implementation of the project “My Latvian Language Portfolio,” Project No. PMIF/13.2./2023/1/10, has started.

Since August 1, 2023, Daugavpils University Association for Lifelong Learning, Culture, and Science Communication “Intellect Park” has been carrying out the project within the framework of the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund for the planning period 2021-2027, activity 13.2, ” Integration of third-country nationals into local society, promoting the use of the Latvian language and opportunities of its acquisition”.

Within the project, 6 groups comprising 88 third-country nationals from Ukraine, Armenia, the Russian Federation, Belarus, and New Zealand have commenced Latvian language courses. The courses take place both in-person and on the online conference platform ZOOM. It is planned that by January 2024, 43 learners from various regions of Latvia and 45 learners from Daugavpils and the Upper Daugava region will have improved their Latvian language proficiency by one level. They will be prepared for the national language proficiency examination held by the National Centre for Education (VISC). The majority of course participants, 73 third-country nationals, will acquire Latvian language proficiency at A2 level, while 15 participants without prior knowledge will have mastered the Latvian language at A1 level by the end of the course.

The Latvian language classes with the application of innovative approaches to language acquisition and relevant teaching materials, are facilitated by educators from the “Intellect Park” association. These educators bring years of experience in teaching the Latvian language.

The courses are organized within the framework of the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund for the planning period 2021-2027, activity 13.2, ” Integration of third-country nationals into local society, promoting the use of the Latvian language and opportunities of its acquisition,” as part of the project “My Latvian Language Portfolio,” Project No. PMIF/13.2./2023/1/10.
