On June 11, 2024, a gathering of implementers and friends of the Active Citizens Fund (ACF) projects took place at the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia. Maija Burima, Chair of the Board of Daugavpils University Association for Lifelong Learning, Cultural, and Scientific Communication “Intellect Park”, and association member Eva Bogdāne were invited to participate. Representatives from the “Omsozams Venner” association, including Chair Ingebjørg Mikalsen and member Renate Hovsdal, were also present.
The event took place in an informal atmosphere, reflecting on the five years of the ACF’s activities, honoring the ACF team, project implementers, and partners, or friends, who had come from the donor countries of the programme – Norway and Iceland. At the same time, the event provided an excellent opportunity to get acquainted and network with non-governmental organizations for potential future projects.
From August 1, 2022, to January 31, 2024, Daugavpils University Association for Lifelong Learning, Cultural, and Scientific Communication “Intellect Park” implemented the Active Citizens Fund project “CAPITAL – Capacity for Growth and Further (Co)operation”, grant agreement No. AIF/2022/KAPAC2/108. Several activities were carried out within the project, including the development of the association’s “Development Strategy”, evaluation, and updating of Latgale NGO network “Cooperation of Latgale Associations for the Implementation of Civic Society Activities” established by the “Intellect Park” association; best practice exchange trips were conducted in collaboration with Norwegian NGOs, training sessions for the association members were organized, and the association’s website was improved.
