On October 14, 2025, at the Jēkabpils Municipality Education Department, the Society “Park of Intelligence” launched the professional competence development programme for teachers “Text Literacy in Primary School: From Text Perception to Understanding”.
The first session for teachers from Jēkabpils Municipality’s educational institutions was led by Dr. paed. Zenta Anspoka, Emeritus Professor at the University of Latvia.
Professor Anspoka provided an extensive insight into various aspects of text literacy in the primary school stage, emphasizing the interaction between language, thinking, and reading skills.
During the session, teachers gained both theoretical insights and practical solutions to apply in their daily work with students.

The implementation of the teacher professional competence development programme “Text Literacy in Primary School: From Text Perception to Understanding” (24 academic hours) is carried out by the Daugavpils University Society for Lifelong Learning, Culture and Scientific Communication “Park of Intelligence”, based on Contract No. 1.-7.1-206 dated 04.09.2025, concluded with the State Education Development Agency.
