In August 2024, Daugavpils University Association for the Lifelong Learning, Culture, and Science Communication “Intellect Park” began implementing in-person cultural orientation courses as part of the project “STRONG TOGETHER – 3” (ID No. 2024.LV/UKR_KO/003/L2), funded by the Latvian state budget programme “Cultural Orientation Courses and Integration Activities for Ukrainian Civilians”.
The cultural orientation courses are held in person in Daugavpils, using a variety of topical educational materials. The knowledge gained will help Ukrainian civilians develop an understanding of Latvian statehood, society, and values, providing insights for applying this knowledge and facilitating their adaptation to Latvian society. During the sessions, participants will acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge on topics relevant to daily life, guided by experienced instructors.
The courses are organized in the volume of 32 academic hours and cover the following topics: “Latvian History” (taught by Mg. hist., Mg. paed. Andris Kupšāns); “Values of the Latvian Cultural Canon” (Dr. philol. Žans Badins); “Government, Rule of Law and Participation in Local Community Activities” (Dr. iur. Igors Trofimovs); “Society and Everyday Life” (Dr. philol. Ingrīda Kupšāne); “Education” (Dr. paed. Sandra Zariņa); “Latvian Language in Work and Daily Life” (Dr. paed. Sandra Zariņa); “Social and Health Care Services” (Mg. paed. Jānis Pitrāns); and “Entrepreneurship Opportunities” (Mg. oec. Tatjana Daudiša).
At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
