Remote cultural orientation courses within the project “STRONG TOGETHER – 3. СИЛЬНІ РАЗОМ – 3” have started

As part of the Latvian state budget-funded programme “Cultural Orientation Courses and Integration Activities for Ukrainian Civilians”, the project “STRONG TOGETHER – 3. СИЛЬНІ РАЗОМ – 3” (ID No. 2024.LV/UKR_KO/003/L2) is being implemented. From November 20, 2024, to December 19, 2024, cultural orientation courses are being held remotely on the e-conference platform ZOOM. A total of 40 Ukrainian civilians participated. The sessions are led by knowledgeable educators with many years of experience, offering participants diverse and topical information.

The courses are organized in a total of 32 academic hours and cover the following topics: “History of Latvia” (Mg. hist., Mg. paed. Andris Kupšāns); “Values of the Latvian Cultural Canon” (Dr. philol. Žans Badins); “Public Administration, Rule of Law, and Participation in Local Community Activities” (Dr. iur. Igors Trofimovs); “Society and Everyday Life” (Dr. philol. Ingrīda Kupšāne); “Education” (Dr. paed. Sandra Zariņa); “Latvian Language in Work and Everyday Life” (Dr. paed. Sandra Zariņa); “Social and Healthcare Services” (Mg. paed. Jānis Pitrāns); “Opportunities for Starting a Business” (Mg. oec. Tatjana Daudiša).

The sessions provide extensive and diverse information. Each topic covers both theoretical and practical aspects. The target audience of the project engage in discussions about Latvia’s political and socio-economic processes during different historical periods, learn about the most significant cultural values, traditions, and lifestyle specifics. The participants also actively discuss the use of the Latvian language in everyday life, appreciate the opportunity to ask and discuss current issues regarding healthcare, social services, and security. They also receive valuable information regarding the business environment and recommendations on how to start business.

Ukrainian civilians actively participate in discussions and share experiences not only with the instructors but also with each other. The project participants admit that the knowledge gained broadens their understanding of the economy, business opportunities, medical and social care services, as well as Latvian history and culture. This contributes to their successful integration into Latvian society and everyday life. All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the courses.

The project is financially supported by the Society Integration Foundation from the allocated funds of the Latvian state budget.

The content and activities of the project are overseen by the Daugavpils University Association for Lifelong Learning, Cultural and Science Communication “Intellect Park”.
