Prof. Maija Burima participated in the 15th International Scientific Conference “Education, Research & Development.”

From August 21 to 24, 2024, Professor Maija Burima, a member of Daugavpils University Association for Lifelong Learning, Culture, and Science Communication “Intellect Park” participated in the 15th International Scientific Conference “Education, Research & Development” held in Burgas, Bulgaria.

At the conference, Maija Burima presented the results of the study titled “Comparison of Face-to-Face and Remote Foreign Language Teaching Effectiveness: Case Study of Teaching Latvian as a Foreign Language.”

In her study, Maija Burima compares the effectiveness of in-person and remote learning formats in teaching Latvian as a foreign language to third-country nationals across three modules: Latvian language courses, conversation clubs, and group and individual consultations. The CLIL method is used to integrate computer literacy into Latvian language training.

The focus group of the study consists of 193 learners from the project “My Latvian Language Portfolio”, who studied Latvian with the “Intellect Park” association from September 2023 to June 2024 and took the State Language Proficiency Test at the Basic Level 2 (A2).
